12:05 am...AMAZING MOVIE!!! We are big Harry Potter fans over here. We just finished a week of watching all of the Harry Potter movies and we were so excited go to the midnight show early this morning.
Alex and her friends got in one of 3 LONG lines to hold our places at around 5:00 in the afternoon yesterday. She said it was fun, especially when they realized Starbucks was making Butterbeer Frappuccinos!
The rest of us arrived around 10:30 pm. I was sure I would fall asleep. But there was so much excitement in the air, it felt like the middle of the afternoon.
Matt ended up going on a young men's three day trip, so looks like we'll have to go again!
They let us all in around 11:00. At that time all the phones came out to play games to pass the time.

I don't usually eat much after midnight, but I made an exception for my favorite dark chocolate covered raisins. YUM.
Us parents passed the hour finding out what "color personality" we each were. Two blue wives and two white/blue husbands.
BLIMEY! THIS MOVIE DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! I didn't even yawn once! Sophie was even glued to the screen. I believe I must see this again. Just to understand the whole "Harry at the train station then going back to Hogwarts" thing. I didn't get it even when I read it. Any insight would be appreciated!!
Yes...that is a treacle tart (pie because I don't have a tart pan) that you see before you. And, yes, those are wizard wands (chocolate caramel pretzels) in those cups. HARRY POTTER MOVIE MARATHON!!!
For the first time, the Arnolds are going to a midnight showing of the last Harry Potter movie. We started off Monday night with plenty of pizza, butter beer and other goodies to help us make it through the first two Harry Potter movies.
Here is Sophie making herself a cold butter beer: ginger ale/cream soda, butterscotch syrup and a scoop of vanilla!
Mmmm...
After a night of sugar and British accents, we all crashed during the second movie and woke up in time to watch Harry board the train home to the Dursley's. Since then, we have watched #'s 4, 5, 6, and tonight is 7 part one!
Sophie took a few friends from school to the roller rink for her birthday.

I have to come back to this post and write a list of things I love about Sophie! (Thanks, Jessie, for the idea!!)
1. Sophie is always up for anything! She will be in pj's and ready for bed, and if Steve says, "Who wants to go for a ride with me?" you can bet Sophie is first in line.
2. She eats spinach for a snack.
3. Sophie is a natural nurturer. She comes into the nursery every Sunday with me to see and play with the toddlers in our ward. She said, "One day, I will be the nursery leader." She loves our neighbors' children and will always make them feel loved and special when she sees them.
4. Her friends name their pets and stuffed animals after her. They have since preschool!
5. She is HILARIOUS. She has a real grown up sense of humor (sarcastic) and makes all of Matt and Alex's friends laugh.
6. She has a love/hate relationship with the piano. She has quit twice only to beg to sign up again.
7. She still loves baby dolls and carries Travis around everywhere.
8. She wrestles with Matt and knows all of the wrestling terminology.
9. She has the funniest singing voice in the world - it is meant to be that way - I promise I am not making fun.
10. She is LOVES dogs! She asks to go to the puppy store or the humane society on a daily basis. When asked to go to someone's home, the first thing that comes out of her mouth is "do they have a dog?"
Sophie has been counting down the days for this movie to come out! Since Steve is out of town on a work trip, my usual Friday date night was replaced by a night out with Sophie and our friends and Justin (Bieber).
The next day, Sophie was talking about parts of the movie all morning - so much so, that Alex caught BIEBER FEVER!! She called her friend and they headed over to the movie for 2 hours of Justin in 3D.
As we speak, the girls are in the next room singing along with some Bieber song...which is SO much better than some of the other stuff they could be listening to!
With the weather not being its sunny self, we have found ourselves hangin' out at the movie theater a bit more than usual. These two movies are AWESOME!!! I liked what I saw of Toy Story 3, but since it was after 8:30 when I saw it - I fell asleep for a lot of it (dark + after 8:30 = sleep) - so I can't include it in my faves.
These are both really great family movies that I would see again and again! I was really surprised since I had no desire to see either one - but these are keepers! I actually got teary in both - which is weird for me (think Cameron Diaz in The Holiday).
*Side note - I must have Ginnifer Goodwin's (Aunt Bea in Ramona and Beezus) wardrobe!! It is SO cute :)
In an attempt to show Sophie some "innocent" entertainment, I have started ordering movies from WAY back when.
So far, she has loved each movie we have watched together. She really loves the Shirley Temple movies, which kind of surprised me!
Her comments are so interesting! She notices the clothes, the hair, the language, and loves it! She wishes she could dress like Shirley Temple (hooray!).
She asked me, "Why does everybody say 'ought to' instead of 'should'." I just told her it was the way people used to speak back then. She likes it, I guess, because this morning she used that phrase about 10 times! (You ought to use that toothpaste, Matt). I think I'm going to search for old episodes of Leave it to Beaver next.
Not really...but she was sitting behind us tonight at the movies! (Bella Terra) I turned around, and there she was!! I didn't know what to do! I am a bit of a movie star freak. I remained calm and didn't attack her for a picture. I will settle for the memory...I am now one person removed from Jude Law :)
Alex saw it at midnight with the Young Women; Sophie, Matt and I saw it at lunch today...Steve needs someone to go with and I'm sure all of us would volunteer!! I love these movies!! This one (and #3) were my favorite books. I purposely didn't re-read the book so I wouldn't be disappointed in the movie. I'm glad I didn't because I really couldn't remember !!!SPOILER ALERT!!!!....the fight scene at the end in the book, so I wasn't sad when it ended the way it did without it. But it did lack a little excitement in the end. And I would have liked to see Dumbledore's !!!!!! SPOILER ALERT!!!! funeral/memorial portrayed the way it was in the book. I mean c'mon...it is Dumbledore! Anyways, we had fun and I can't wait for the last one(s) to come out next!
Okay, I am reading Jane Eyre for book club and I am loving it! (even though it is taking me awhile with me choosing to watch back episodes of Lost with my free time for the most part INSTEAD of trying to finish my book). But I can't wait to see Ellen Page become Jane Eyre in an upcoming BBC production - how cool is that?! I am having a hard time imagining her as someone other than Juno, but I still am intrigued by what she will do in this role. I know she isn't British - I hope she can pull it off! I wonder who Mr. Rochester is going to be?????
Friday night we decided to go check out Race to Witch Mountain. I don't think I ever saw the original movie back in the day, but we really liked this new version. The kids loved it! Must have pizza... Must INHALE pizza. I couldn't believe this - WHY???? We bought the large anyway. Can't wait for this!!!
It has been forever since I posted! But that is due to a ridiculous flu that hit me the week last month and just lingered forever. Luckily I felt better in time to host our most excellent Book Club. We read a true story called "The Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio- How My Mother Raised 10 Kids on 25 Words or Less" by Terry Ryan. I really liked the book - and I even liked it more after watching the movie. For our Book Club, we talked about the amazing main character - the mother Evelyn Ryan and her amazing attitude towards life as she lives in a marriage with an alcoholic husband who won't pay the bills. She resorts to contesting - finishing limericks and writing short jingles for companies like Dr. Pepper- to win money to pay for her family's needs. It is an inspiring story and it made a fun book club discussion. We drank Dr. Pepper in honor of Evelyn's big win in the Dr. Pepper jingle contest :) (And, yes, tulips played a part in the book as well). After snacking on apple cake (I could eat the frosting all by itself), chips and salsa, grapes and Dr. Pepper, those who could stay helped tie a quilt our Relief Society is making to donate to SHIP (an organization for men who are trying to put their lives together and make a new start).
While we tied we watched the movie version of the book. Julianne Moore is a glamorous version of Evelyn Ryan while Woody Harrelson plays her husband Kelly. Good times with good friends.
So fun. The crowds were lined up around the building. The girls were screaming in line and throughout the movie! It was crazy!! Even if Edward was not what we imagined...still...we thought it was great!
We had to go to an Edward(s) theater in honor of a certain character in the movie.
Okay, I just have to say I LOVE THIS MOVIE! Our book club is reading Emma right now and last night, I missed the "Emma movie night" with the girls. So, in order to feel like I didn't miss out too much, I decided to watch my favorite movie, Pride and Prejudice, last night after everyone went to bed. Wow. I love this movie! Staying up until 1:30 am to finish it was so worth it just for this scene alone. It was a late night/early morning well spent :)
I am a happy wife and mother living by the beach. I can't believe that we have started a countdown to our oldest leaving the nest! This blog helps me savor every moment, the great times and the harder ones, of this chapter of my life. Thanks for visiting!
