Family Pizza

Who says we can't have FHE on a Tuesday? Monday was such a crazy night with Steve getting ready for his trip, kids at swim team, me 'magically' providing dinner from whatever was in the fridge, homework, etc. etc., - we couldn't fit it in. Last night was looking as if it were going to be another one of those nights, so we mixed dinner and a lesson together and came up with a Family Pizza.
Opening Hymn#301: I Am A Child of God
Discuss: We are all individual unique children of God.
Scripture: Mosiah 4:15 - (teach them truth and to love one another)
Discuss: What do you think this is refering to? (Families) Heavenly Father has put his unique children with different personalities into families to learn from and love each other.
What are some things we can learn from each other? (how to be patient, serve, forgive, etc.)
What are some things we can do to show our love for each other?
Family members are different like the ingredients that make a pizza. Individually they are so different. If we each keep the commandments and work together, there will be a wonderful result (yummy pizza). What happens to the pizza if we put the cheese on the bottom, then the sauce, then the crust then the toppings? (mess) The same happens to our families if we fight, and don't keep the commandments - we won't receive the blessings Heavenly Father has for us.
Activity: Make pizza! We had our discussion while we made the pizza. It ended up being really fun :)
Closing Hymn #294: Love At Home

Easy Pizza Dough
In a large bowl, dissolve in 2 cups of warm water 1 packet of yeast, 1 T. sugar, 1 T. salt. Stir gently to blend. Add 5 cups flour and 2 T. olive oil. Mix in a mixer 5 minutes or knead by hand 5-10 minutes. It should be a bit sticky, but springy and smooth. Place the dough in a large, clean bowl coated with olive oil. Cover with a clean, dry dish towel and let rise until double in size (2 hours). Punch down dough to release air bubbles. You can roll out to make pizza or store in the fridge for up to 3 days in Ziplock bags coated with cooking spray. Allow to come to room temp. before rolling out.
