We were later getting our tree this year than we have ever been! We wanted a tall, skinny, artificial tree this year complete with lights already strung...that is Steve and I wanted one... only because of Matt's allergies and because of a lack of time it takes to get a real one. The kids protested (even Matt) and so Steve grabbed this one on the way home from work. Not a tall, skinny, low maintenance tree...a large, bush-on-the-bottom, bare in the middle, sparse on top tree. Did I fear this would be the ugliest tree we've ever had...NO!

When we were first married, we had no money. We waited until Christmas Eve to go pick out a tree that a tree lot had thrown in the trash. Free tree! But trash worthy. It had a similar look to this tree you see above. Steve got to work with a serrated kitchen knife and a drill. He cut branches from the dense bottom of the tree and drilled holes into the bare middle trunk to attach the cut branches. He pruned it until it looked amazing!

Once again, Steve got out the serrated kitchen knife and the drill to work his magic.

It was a Christmas miracle :)
